WeatherTool: Main Menu

The Main Menu sits at the top of the left-hand control panels within the main application window and provides access to the main application menu system. Like any other menu, you can access it using the mouse or via the keyboard using the Alt+F, Alt+V, Alt+O and Alt+H shortcuts.

File

New

Re-initialises the application; clearing memory and reloading default settings. If the current weather data set has been changed, you will be prompted to save or discard these changes.

Open

Displays the Windows File Open dialog for selecting a new weather file to load. Opened files completely replace any existing data in memory.

Open Recent

These menu items represent a list of the most recent files accessed by the application. Selecting any of these items will re-load the corresponding file.

Save

Saves the current weather file. If this is the first time the data has been saved, it displays the Windows File Save As dialog for creating a new file.

Save As...

Saves a new weather file or a new version of an existing file. You must specify the new filename in the Windows Save As dialog.

Print...

Prints the current weather data view according to the options specified in the Print Setup.

Exit

Closes Weather Tool and ends the current session. If you have made any changes since you last saved your data, you will be prompted to save those changes before exiting.

View

Zoom to Fit

Zooms to fit the extents of the current graph ot chart within the current view. Use this command to reset after zooming in or out. In addition to the Home key, you also use the using the + and - keys. Zooming in and out can also be done interactively by holding down the Shift key while dragging with the right mouse button.

Copy to Clipboard

Copies the current graph or chart to the clipboard as either an enhanced Windows metafile (EMF) or as an RGB Windows bitmap (BMP). You can then paste either of these directly into other graphics or desktop publishing applications.

Passive Design Analysis...

Displays the Passive Design Analysis... dialog.

Location Data

Displays the LOCATION DATA panel and its default display.

Solar Position Diagram

Displays the SOLAR POSITION panel and its default display.

Comfort Psychrometry

The items in this submenu display the PSYCHROMETRY panel and elements in its display.

Wind Analysis

The items in this submenu display the WIND ANALYSIS panel and elements in its display.

Hourly Data

The items in this submenu display the HOURLY DATA panel and elements in its display.

Weekly Data

The items in this submenu display the WEEKLY DATA panel and elements in its display.

Monthly Data

The items in this submenu display the MONTHLY DATA panel and elements in its display.

Options

Show Weather Explorer

Toggles the display of the Weather File Explorer panel located to the right of the main application window.

Full Interactive Redraw

When selected, your computer will try to fully redraw the current chart or graph whenever you interactively right-click and drag in the main drawing area. This is very useful when viewing the 3D weekly trend graphs as, if your computer's graphics capabilities are fast enough, it can give a much better feel for the data shapes.
